Welcome to the beautiful city of Barranquilla, which has its roots in the beginnings of Colombian civil aviation. This city hosted the first airline in the Americas and second in the world: AVIANCA started here in 1919 and was originally called SCADTA.
This city is well-known by the title of "the GOLD DOOR OF COLOMBIA" because it was the heart of Colombia's technology and the culture many years ago. It is also where famous singer SHAKIRA hails from and is recognised internationally by the Carnival in the month of February. It is one of the largest commercial and industrialist cities of Colombia, due to the availability of a port and entrance of the main river to our country: The Magdalena river.
The ERNESTO CORTISSOZ International airport, takes its name in honor of one of the founders of SCADTA and martyr of aviation in its beginnings.
