The airport is located 165nm South of Mexico City, Benito Juarez International (MMMX), 303nm Southeast of Guadalajara International (MMGL), and 175nm West of Oaxaca, Xoxocotlan International (MMOX).
MMAA serves the famous beach resort of Acapulco. It is the main airport in the southern Pacific coast of Mexico. Operated by OMA (Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte), it handles almost 500 daily operations and 1,000,000 passengers a year with frequent daily flights to and from Mexico City, Montreal, Toronto, Houston, Monterrey, and Tijuana.
It has one main terminal with 3 gates and 16 airplane positions and a general aviation terminal, two runways; The main (10/28) 10,800 feet long at an altitude of 13 ft. and (06/24) 5,580 feet long. The navigation facilities in the area include a VOR/DME ACA (115.9 mhz) and ILS approach systems for runways 10 and 28.
